About Matt:

“Since 2003 Matt Berkey has been playing and profiting as a professional poker player. He began beating the $1-$2NL and $2-$5NL while earning his BS in Computer Science from Gannon University. In 2005 Berkey began playing full time at the $5-$10NL stake. Today he can be found playing as high as $200-$400 NL.IMAG0001 In addition to his impressive track record as a a live pro cash player, Berkey amassed nearly 1 million in online tournament cashes under the name “Berkey11”, the largest of which included chopping the Full Tilt Sunday Major for $102,000 as well as taking 3rd in the $150 rebuy FTOPS event for $90,415. Berkey’s live tournament scores have been recently growing. In 2010 Berkey shifted his focus to live tournaments and his career took off. A 2nd in The Venetian DeepStack Extravaganza for over $30,000 was the spring board to a big summer. His scores included three World Series of Poker cashes, the largest being a 43rd place finish in the Main Event for $206,000. Berkey’s momentum continued in 2011 with three deep runs in World Poker Tour events, including a 15th place finish in the LAPC Main Event for $56,880. Later that year he made his first WSOP final table placing 6th in the $2,500 NLHE for $119,528. After a quiet 2012, Berkey made up for the lackluster results of the previous year in the summer of 2013. Seven WSOP cashes, including three final table appearances, resulted in nearly $500k in earnings, bringing his lifetime winnings in excess of $1,000,000. Berkey’s success is a direct product of being a student of the game. The hours spent off the felt studying game theory and analyzing opponent’s play has correlated directly into a profitable career. –Insta Poker Bio
